I have always fed Codliver oil to my dogs, especially important for the two Lurchers I currently have to lubricate the joints in those very long running legs. One of the Lurchers is a Bearded colly/Deerhound-Greyhound that needs it to help keep the knots out of his coat also. The fishy breath hasn't been so much an issue for other shorter dogs I have had in the past, but with larger dogs around 28 inches to the shoulder the smell comes closer to the nose when seated, so for this reason alone it is worth using cold pressed Flax oil, which does not have any undesirable odour. Having used it for a few months now I reckon it actually works significantly better than Codliver oil and in terms of cost it is only marginally more expensive, so I won't be returning to Fishy breath smells derived from fish oil.
