Chapelwood Squirrel Dome And Feeder Shelter

Chapelwood Squirrel Dome And Feeder Shelter

Brollies for birds!
I have 6 of these and use them to cover the bird feeders. I have found they are more suited to feeders hung from a tree branch with a long hook as they are quite a wide diameter. They provide protection from the rain so the birdfood doesn't go soggy and most importantly they keep the pesky squirrel, rooks and jackdaws off the feeders which was the reason for buying them. A lot cheaper then my local garden centre and birdfood supplier too. Now all I need is to find something similar to cover the ground feeder cage.

Not quite as described
The description stated that this can be suspended from a pole, but neglects to point out that any hanging bracket needs to be at least 16 inches, or the dome will hit the pole. It's huge! I had to return it as it was no use for my bird feeding station.

Beaten the squirrels
I as bought this as I live in an area riddled with squirels. This baffle is attatched easily to the Chapelwood bird feeder using the supplied fixing kit. For the first few days it was quite fun to watch as the squirels tried their hardest to overcome this new contraption but they never managed it and now leave my birdfeeder alone. Result.
